About the College/Unit/DepartmentThe College of Veterinary Medicine, established in 1946, trains veterinarians, provides animal health services, and conducts research to improve animal and human health. It features advanced facilities and is committed to public health and safety.
Position SummaryThe primary responsibility is to assist the Emergency Critical Care team with appointments and emergency patient intake during evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Responsibilities include helping clients deliver pets, answering phones, scheduling, opening patient charts, and processing payments.
Minimum QualificationsTechnical knowledge acquired through an apprenticeship, 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Contact HR for evaluation of experience/education in lieu of minimum qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience in a fast-paced environment with high call volume and distressed clients.
- Experience handling cashier responsibilities, answering phones, and data entry.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with excellent customer service skills.
- Knowledge of animal anatomy and veterinary terminology.
- Proficiency with MS Office and office equipment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Lift up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
- Sit or stand for long periods; use of stairs and uneven surfaces.
- Effective communication via phone, email, and in person.
- Use of computer technology.
Driving is not a responsibility. This is a Position of Trust, with access to financial resources and patient care. Background checks, credit checks, and possible drug tests are required.
Duties50% of the time, assist in triage, enter patient data, and handle cashier duties.
