Office of University Architects (OUA): Responsible for campus master planning, transportation, historic preservation, environmental planning, site design, architectural standards, GIS, and coordination of major capital projects across all UGA campuses.

Position Summary: The OUA Project Manager will oversee all stages of campus capital projects from initial programming through closeout, including building alteration, repair, and new construction on any UGA campus. Responsibilities involve planning, budgeting, scheduling, design, construction oversight, and stakeholder communication.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Planning and Design) or equivalent and at least 5 years of professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of Project Management experience, preferably in a campus or institutional environment.
  • Experience as an Owner’s Representative, leading and coordinating large design teams across multiple disciplines.
  • Proven experience managing complex facilities development projects involving planning, historic preservation, architecture, interior design, and construction oversight.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of applicable building codes, regulatory guidelines, and construction methods.
  • Strong communication skills to establish and maintain working relationships with faculty, administrators, and contractors.
  • Project Management skills, including management of design professionals and contractors.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office Suite.
  • Foundational competency in graphic and presentation software such as Adobe Acrobat, AutoCAD, Sketch Up, and similar programs.

Physical Demands:

  • Sedentary desk work and computer tasks.
  • Regular site visits for inspections and coordination.
  • Travel to construction sites, possibly including overnight stays.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
  • Driving required for job duties.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee projects from initial studies and budgeting through all construction phases, ensuring timely completion and quality standards.
  • Conduct on‑site meetings with the Owner, Architect, and Contractor; maintain project schedule and budget compliance.
  • Communicate project status to UGA Board of Regents staff, faculty, and staff; prepare presentation materials for stakeholder meetings.
  • Direct design professionals and contractors, evaluate vendor proposals, negotiate services and costs.
  • Prepare program documentation, finalize construction drawings, evaluate shop drawings, and administer construction inspections.
  • Other duties as assigned.
