Responsibilities Post‑Award
  • Provide financial support and reports to faculty in the post‑award stage of research projects.
  • Account management and monthly reconciliation for restricted projects.
  • Process HR/payroll actions related to grant projects for faculty and staff.
  • Meet with faculty PIs to review account activity and ensure proper close‑out of accounts.
  • Review expenditures for compliance and submit needed requests (CASB exception).
  • Review purchasing for export controls and prepare journal vouchers.
  • Assist faculty with effort and planning.
  • Interface with the departmental accountant for correct chart strings for travel authorities and expense statements.
  • Sub‑contract administration, administrative action requests, research buyouts, no‑cost extensions, and ensure proper grant close‑out.
  • Ensure that grant activities and expenditures are in accordance with federal, state, and university policies.
Pre‑Award
  • Serve Franklin College faculty in preparing and processing highly complex grant proposals.
  • Assist faculty, staff, and graduate students with proposal development, preparation, and submission.
  • Create budgets, budget justifications, cost‑share budgets, and ensure compliance with agency guidelines.
  • Insure accuracy of budgets, including salary and fringe benefit rates, travel, indirect costs, cost share, and sub‑contracts.
  • Act as liaison between SPA, departments, colleges, and centers regarding research administration questions.
  • Identify potential funding sources appropriate to faculty or student expertise.
  • Assist PIs in writing justifications for special approvals and exceptions to OMB policies.
  • Handle inquiries with SPA regarding required grant proposal information.
  • Collaborate with the Foundation Office on proposal submission activities, including initiative review, eligibility assessment, and technical and budget development.
Approvals and Compliance
  • Support faculty, staff, and students by providing customer service or referring requests to appropriate staff.
  • Coordinate and provide leadership on special projects assigned by the department director.
  • Maintain collegiality, professional conduct, and ethical behavior when engaging with colleagues and the public.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent.
  • Direct experience in research administration or financial project management.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects in an organized, efficient manner.
  • Knowledge of pre‑award and post‑award regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with grant policies related to federal funding agencies.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
