Assistant Professor – Special Education Adapted Curriculum
The Department of Communication Sciences and Special Education at the University of Georgia invites applications for a full‑time tenure‑track assistant professor position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The position will begin August 1, 2026 and will focus on adapting curriculum for students with moderate to severe disabilities, including secondary‑aged and post‑secondary learners.
Position SummaryWe seek a motivated faculty member with research and teaching interests that broadly address special education, particularly for students with moderate to severe disabilities. The candidate will develop a high‑quality research program, secure external funding, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, advise students, and serve the special education program and the university.
Responsibilities- Establish and maintain a coherent line of research, publishing peer‑reviewed scholarly articles in reputable journals.
- Seek external funding for research and educational projects.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in special education, including adapted curriculum.
- Advise graduate students and guide thesis and dissertation research.
- Serve the special education program through ongoing service and professional engagement.
- Earned doctorate (Ph.D. or equivalent) in special education or a related field by the start date.
- Evidence of high‑quality research or potential to conduct such research.
- Demonstrated ability to secure external funding or potential to do so.
- Experience teaching at least one special education course at the undergraduate and graduate level.
- Three years of P‑12 teaching experience or equivalent.
- Specialization in secondary‑aged students with moderate to severe disabilities, post‑secondary transition, or adapting general education curriculum.
