Position Summary:

The Department of Entomology at the University of Georgia invites applications for a full-time, 12‑month, non‑tenure‑track Public Service Assistant/Associate to direct the Pesticide Use and Safety Program for the state of Georgia. The position is budgeted at 95% Service, 5% Research.

Core Responsibilities
  • Serve as the state Pesticide Safety Educational Program (PSEP) coordinator, including involvement in grants supporting the mission.
  • Develop, deliver, and oversee pesticide education and safety training.
  • Act as departmental liaison to provide college-wide Pesticide Safety Training for graduate research assistants and staff.
  • Develop, deliver, and oversee Worker Protection Standards Training.
  • Collaborate with county agents and specialists to develop worker protection training modules and videos.
  • Travel independently across the state (driving required).
Minimum Qualifications
  • MS in Entomology, a related life science field, or Agricultural Education/Communication.
  • One to two years’ experience overseeing similar programs (highly desirable).
  • Strong communication, organizational skills, and knowledge of worker protection standards and pesticide safety.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in Entomology or related field.
  • Experience with grant involvement.
  • Interdisciplinary background.
