Position SummaryThe Music Education program in the Hugh Hodgson School of Music at the University of Georgia invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Music Education (string emphasis) for candidates demonstrating expertise in string pedagogy, instrumental music teacher education, and student teaching supervision. This is a full‑time, benefits‑eligible appointment starting August 1, 2026.
Responsibilities- Teach string education courses.
- Assist in Instrumental Field Experience courses.
- Supervise student teachers in surrounding counties.
- Oversee teacher education in the String Project.
- Teach other courses as assigned within areas of expertise such as guitar, secondary general, and/or technology in music education.
- Actively contribute to the Hugh Hodgson School of Music and Music Education area.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Candidates with a master’s degree in music education may be considered depending upon documented accomplishments and expertise beyond the minimum requirement for K‑12 teaching, and must be approved for a terminal degree exception before hire.
