The TRIO Talent Search Program Coordinator supports the mission of OSSA/TRIO by providing direct services to TRIO eligible students (first generation and low income) to increase their academic success and postsecondary enrollment. The coordinator is responsible for advising and mentoring students, facilitating college and career readiness workshops, assisting with financial aid and admissions processes, and maintaining accurate records to ensure compliance with federal grant objectives.
The position also builds and sustains strong partnerships with schools, families, and community organizations to enhance program impact. Through these responsibilities, the coordinator plays a key role in ensuring the Talent Search program meets its objectives, supports student success, and upholds the integrity of federal funding.
- Practical knowledge of students who are first-generation students and low-income students.
- Communicate effectively across a range of stakeholders, such as students, faculty, staff, administrators, and external entities.
- Work in a collaborative atmosphere.
- Excellent written, oral, and/or visual communication skills.
- Flexibility to work during peak program/summer hours, including nights and weekends.
- Some light lifting.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license, as regular driving is an essential part of the job.
- Coordinate recruitment, selection and orientation of project participants, outreach activities and workshops. (25%)
- Maintain accurate, up to date records and documentation of assessment and placement which includes maintaining a database, academic records, contacts, exit information and evaluations. (25%)
- Assess and prescribe participant services and plan activities in community agencies and target schools. (25%)
- Arrange academic support services, provide individual, group and career counseling sessions to meet participant needs. Perform other counseling duties and support services as needed. (20%)
- Participate in professional development. Engage in and support OSSA, UGA, and external committees, presentations, and events. Assist with new and emerging work projects. (5%)
