Position SummaryStudent assistant in Dr. Zenglu Li’s lab, supporting field and seed lab research activities.
Responsibilities- Take agronomic notes, collect data, and harvest soybean research plots in the field.
- Work in the seed lab to weigh and clean samples, thresh individual plants, and prepare seed for spring planting.
Preference given to students with background education in agriculture and/or chemistry. Preference given to students with experience with soybean or near‑infrared spectroscopy.
Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the student will regularly stand, sit, talk, hear, use hands and fingers to operate a commercial grinder and computer, reach, and stoop/kneel to lift. Lifting up to 50 lbs. Exposure to moderate‑loud noise (earplugs provided). Sit and perform repetitive tasks for long periods of time. Exposure to soybeans and ground soybean/soybean dust (dust mask provided).
