Overview
Emanuel County 4-H Educator role at UGA College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences is an exempt professional staff role within UGA Cooperative Extension responsible for the delivery of the 4-H program within the assigned county. The incumbent will manage both 4-H education delivery and Extension program administration by developing techniques and procedures as appropriate. This role works cooperatively with all Extension faculty and staff where applicable and is administratively responsible to the appropriate County Extension Coordinator and the District Extension Director.

- Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field.
- Good communication skills- oral and written.
- Ability to work with a wide range of populations.
- Knowledge of Cooperative Extension 4-H program activities.
- Some degree of physical activity, including lifting, to conduct programs (e.g., handling animals, supplies and demonstration materials, audio/visual equipment, etc.).
- Some standing and/or sitting for various lengths of time.
- Exposure to various seasonal weather conditions for outside activities.
- Driving to perform job related duties.
Time allocation: 55%
- Delivers in-school 4-H programming to enrolled 4-H members.
- Conducts in-school club meetings each month in which employee is responsible for promoting 4-H events as well as delivering prepared Georgia Professional Standards based curriculum.
- Studies and reviews the results of program evaluations and feedback to modify/revise future programs and delivery techniques so as meet the needs of 4-H clientele: club members, volunteers, and chaperones.
Time allocation: 20%
- Helps develop efficient and effective procedures for managing the youth. This includes sign-up procedures, handling paperwork, parent relations, and on-site supervision and counsel for County youth attending camp.
- Works with home-school 4-H club members to ensure they receive equal opportunities as afforded the 4-H club members enrolled in the local school system.
- Assist 4-H club members with preparation for competitive events, such as project achievement, judging teams, etc.
- May temporarily conduct County 4-H Agent duties during period(s) of prolonged absence.
- Is involved in all aspects of event planning for 4-H, including annual 4-H Awards Banquet, which typically has over 200 people in attendance.
Time allocation: 15%
- Identify, recruit, and help train involved and recognized 4-H volunteers in planning, teaching, and evaluating Cooperative Extension 4-H programs.
- Assist interested volunteers in the successful completion of the 4-H Chaperone Training.
- This training includes the following divisions of 4-H program, such as Archery Team, Shotgun Team, Horse Club, and Show Teams (hogs, sheep, and goats).
Time allocation: 10%
- Make reports to appropriate clientele, staff members, Board of Education, Board of Commissioners, and public officials through electronic mass media (county website, internet, etc.), personal contracts, and/or group meetings.
- Submit accurate, complete reports in a timely manner in Georgia Counts, 4-H enrollment, and District office as required.
- Manages all 4-H inventory and supplies, including fundraising and event items, demonstration development materials, and camp and club meeting supplies.
