Act as one-on-one or small group tutor for student-athletes enrolled in MATH, STAT, PHYS, CSCI, or other math related courses.
Duties / Responsibilities- Tutor students and assist them in understanding course material (60% of time).
- Maintain a record of each tutoring session, including topics covered, student progress, time spent, and preparation level (15% of time).
- Review course topics ahead of sessions to be prepared to utilize time scheduled with students (10% of time).
- Ensure compliance with NCAA, SEC, and institutional rules and regulations pertaining to the area of academic assistance.
- Communicate changes in schedule or student needs with the Math Lab Coordinator and academic counselors (5% of time).
- Bachelor’s degree in Math, Education, or a related field.
- At least 1 year of teaching or tutoring experience.
- Familiarity with current technologies used to teach math, including computer programs and graphing calculators.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, present information, and respond to questions from individuals, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with random issues.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and occasionally lift approximately 20 lbs.
