Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must have a doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, DVM, MD/DO, DVM, DDS/DMD, Pharm

D, OD) for their field, or the minimum of a Masters degree for fields such as nurse practitioner, physician assistant, nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, or others.

Responsibilities include teaching upper-level undergraduate students in the Biomedical Physiology program, teaching up to three 3-credit hour courses per academic term, developing course materials, supervising teaching assistants, and potential service to undergraduate and graduate program administration.

Duties/Responsibilities

Teach the equivalent of up to three 3-credit hour courses per academic term, participate in the development of new course materials, and supervise teaching assistants. May participate in the administration of the undergraduate program and contribute to teaching missions of graduate and veterinary medicine programs. The position will interact with students and CVM faculty and staff. High level of autonomy.

Required Qualifications
  • Candidates must have a doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, DVM, MD/DO, DVM, DDS/DMD, Pharm

    D, OD) for their respective field or the minimum of a Masters degree for fields such as nurse practitioner, physician assistant, nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, or others.
  • Candidates must have excellent communication skills.
  • A minimum of one year of experience teaching physiology at the undergraduate, graduate, or professional school level is required.
  • Candidates without a terminal degree required for the rank of Lecturer must document exceptional accomplishments in a discipline related to the position’s responsibilities and must be approved for a terminal degree exception before hire.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification
  • Evidence of teaching excellence using active learning methods in both small and large group settings is highly desirable.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated ability to teach multiple areas of physiology and physiology teaching laboratories. Ability to teach pathophysiology or pharmacology is desirable.
  • For candidates in fields requiring a Masters degree, preference will be given to candidates with a doctoral degree appropriate to the field.

Extended periods of standing or sitting, vocal strain from talking, and moderate physical activity like walking, reaching, and occasional lifting of materials.
