Position Summary

The Program Coordinator supports the implementation of Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math-Science program objectives by coordinating academic, college preparatory, and enrichment services for eligible participants. Responsibilities include designing and delivering standards-based instructional curriculum; supervising and evaluating part-time instructional and tutorial staff; administering and analyzing diagnostic and achievement assessments; and providing academic advising aligned with students' Individualized Education Plans (Student Educational Plans/SEPs) in collaboration with secondary school counselors.

Participant recruitment, selection, and retention; monitors academic progress and addresses identified academic needs; supports program evaluation and continuous improvement efforts; and compiles required documentation and data related to instructional services, participant outcomes, and federally mandated reporting requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Recruit, orient, and test program participants.
  • Develop, coordinate, and manage the instructional program, including after-school tutorials and the summer residential program.
  • Coordinate program documentation of academic services and evaluate efforts; submit monthly and annual reports on student retention and progress in courses and tests.
  • Devise and implement a plan to evaluate the effectiveness of services and the instructional component on the academic progress of participants for weekly after-school sessions and summer program.
  • Initiate, search, and participate in the selection of instructional and tutorial staff for the summer and academic year.
  • Coordinate, train, and supervise instructors and tutorial staff; maintain knowledge of TRIO Programs, Upward Bound Programs, and UGA policies.
  • Engage in professional development; support OSSA, UGA, and external committees, presentations, and events; assist with new and emerging work projects.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent.
  • Preferred:
    Experience coordinating academic and enrichment services for youth from low-income, first-generation families.
  • Commitment to educational needs of target population and proven track record motivating youth.
