- Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent and 5 years of professional experience
- Preferred Qualifications: Licensed engineer in the State of Georgia; 5-10 years' experience with higher education facilities including research
- Position Summary: The Director of Capital Engineering and Infrastructure provides engineering leadership for the Office of University Architects for planning, design, construction and warranty periods of facility building systems and infrastructure, including civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, telecommunication, and security systems. May supervise other OUA employees and collaborates with UGA departments, design professionals, and contractors.
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or
Competencies:
Includes project management in higher education, design review, code compliance, safety, driving, MS Office, Bluebeam, communication, staff supervision, and knowledge of HVAC/BAS. Strong knowledge of engineering principles and building methods for renovations and new construction. - Physical Demands: Visits to construction sites, confined spaces, elevated work, and occasional weekends/holidays; sedentary work at a computer.

- Provides engineering leadership for planning, design, construction, and warranty of facility engineering systems and infrastructure for UGA facilities.
- Provides planning advice and budgeting information for campus infrastructure and building systems for UGA projects.
- Works with OUA project managers, consulting engineers, design professionals, and contractors across all project phases.
- Collaborates with Facilities Management Division, University Housing, Auxiliary Services, and other entities operating/maintaining facilities.
- Applies knowledge of civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, telecommunication, and security systems to project-specific needs; considers performance, sustainability, maintainability, cost, and budgets.
- Reviews and maintains UGA design standards; administers and updates Standards biannually; ensures conformance with building codes and engineering principles.
- Reviews shop drawings, submittals, change orders, and design documents; supports value engineering as needed to meet budgets and schedules.
- Visits construction sites to monitor compliance; attends Owner/Architect/Contractor meetings as requested; leads training for facilities operations personnel for new/renovated facilities.
