Athens-Clarke County Government is offering a hiring incentive for Police Officers, including lateral entry positions. Apply on or after November 1, 2025, and start on or after August 1, 2026: $3,000. The incentive is paid in three installments after 3, 6, and 12 months of satisfactory service.
Continuation of the program depends on grant and departmental funding and approval by the Manager. Eligible BLE-certified lateral transfers may qualify for higher placement in the pay plan.
