Overview
Evaluates and treats patients referred by a licensed physician in accordance with the Practice Act for the State of Georgia. Applies a wide variety of therapeutic techniques for rehabilitation of speech-language, oral motor, and hearing disorders. Performs specialized evaluations for dysphagia. Complies with hospital policies and supports the mission and values of the hospital.
Responsibilities- Evaluate and treat patients referred by a licensed physician in accordance with the Georgia Practice Act.
- Apply a wide variety of therapeutic techniques for rehabilitation of speech-language, oral motor, and hearing disorders.
- Perform specialized evaluations for dysphagia.
- Coordinate Speech Therapy treatments with other therapy providers, most notably Occupational Therapists and Physical Therapists, and work collaboratively with all hospital staff.
- Relate to physician referral sources and demonstrate excellent customer service.
- Participate in clinical quality measurement and performance improvement programs and comply with hospital policies and procedures.
- Licensure/Certification/Registration:
The Speech Language Pathologist must be duly licensed by the Georgia State Board. The therapist must hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. BLS required. - Education:
The Speech-Language Pathologist must hold a Master’s degree from an ASHA-accredited program and be licensed to practice by the Georgia State Board. The therapist must also hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence. - Experience:
Should have broad experience in a variety of clinical settings through ASHA-accredited clinical internship programs. - Special
Qualifications:
Knowledge of Speech Therapy practices, procedures, and clinical skills; familiarity with documentation and billing that satisfies the Georgia State practice act, JCAHO requirements, and Medicare/Medicaid.
