Join the dedicated Labor & Delivery team at Piedmont Athens, where compassionate care and clinical excellence go hand in hand. Our unit is made up of 2 ORs, 2 Pre‑Op/PACU rooms, 14 labor rooms and 4 OB/ED beds that support 3,000 deliveries annually. We provide comprehensive care for a wide range of patients and obstetric needs—from triage and labor to surgical delivery, recovery, postpartum, newborn nursery, and gynecologic care.

Our team thrives on strong prioritization, professionalism, and collaboration to provide safe, patient‑centered care. Staffing ratios are thoughtfully guided by patient acuity and volume: 1:2 in laboring patients and 1:1 in active labor and OR recovery. These ratios reflect our commitment to maintaining the highest standards while adjusting to clinical realities as needed.

The staff nurse provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle, utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care for patients. The staff nurse functions within the framework of the organization’s policies and procedures, demonstrating professional growth and accountability. Responsibilities include maintaining standards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of all assigned staff, and providing quality nursing care.

  Graduate of a nursing program

  New graduates of a nursing program eligible
• Minimum Licensure/Certification Required By Law

  • Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License
  • BLS certification required
• Additional Qualifications
  :
  • For PRN positions:
    One year of nursing experience in a hospital setting preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum)
