This role involves the development, maintenance, and support of decision‑support tools and application programming interfaces for Precision Sustainable Agriculture (PSA) and overseeing the AESL Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), which manages equipment automation, sample submissions, reporting, accounting, quality control, auditing, and result dissemination to Extension offices. The LIMS also generates financial reports for administrative purposes and the Board of Regents.
Responsibilities- Provide full stack in‑house software support (JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Python, Microsoft Access, Postgre
SQL, Node.js, Power Shell). - Develop, maintain, and document the AESL LIMS.
- Design and maintain databases for generating reports and data‑value recommendations.
- Develop, support, and maintain software for AESL laboratories (reporting, QA, QC, accounting, summaries, mapping, and custom automation scripts).
- Oversee AESL IT systems and personnel, including task assignments, review, and training.
- Lead weekly meetings with IT, Accounting, and Lab management teams.
- Prepare summary and statistical reports; use statistical software, graphs, and conditional formatting to flag data issues.
- Oversee setup, maintenance, and administration of AESL IT infrastructure.
- Design accounting and invoicing software; generate and distribute invoices; integrate accounting data with laboratory data.
- Conduct monthly audits of accounts receivable and unbilled samples.
- Work with specialists on expert systems software and program reports.
- Analyze department‑wide computer resources for instrument execution.
- Acquire necessary information from specialists to meet stakeholder objectives.
- Provide training services to County Extension Faculty and Staff on IT services at the county level.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent.
- Minimum two years of professional experience.
- Advanced web development skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Ajax, ASP).
- Proficiency in a high‑level Windows programming language.
- Advanced database skills, specifically SQL query creation.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Advanced software troubleshooting skills.
- Understanding of basic accounting principles.
- Network administration skills (Windows Server, IIS).
- Strong communication of technical information to staff and management.
- Work at a computer for long periods, five days a week.
- Lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
