Service Manager

Boswell Oil Company is a dynamic growth‑oriented distributor of lubricants and fuels to wholesale, retail, and commercial end‑user markets throughout Georgia. We are seeking an experienced Service Manager with prior field service and petroleum industry experience.

Base Pay Range

$50,000 – $90,000 per year (pay commensurate with experience)

Summary

Manage the deployment of Service Technicians to prioritize and complete service orders for Boswell facilities and customers, ensuring efficient communication with internal and external partners to maximize equipment usage and timely customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Dispatch employees or vendors for service tickets and coordinate with Sales Support as needed.
  • Verify details for invoicing after completion of service tickets.
  • Act as a liaison for contractors or vendors providing upkeep to Boswell facilities or equipment.
  • Create and dispatch service tickets, and verify their completion.
  • Maintain tracking spreadsheets or databases for sales and service assets.
  • Contemplate ROI data and provide relevant information for approvals.
  • Maintain and order equipment such as tank monitors; track warranties and credits.
  • Report project progress to senior management and work with them to improve operations.
  • Schedule and dispatch service technicians for field service (tank installs, repairs, inspections, etc.).
  • Coordinate with vendors, field techs, sales, and customers to execute service projects and warranty activities.
  • Handle end‑to‑end work order management and document detailed records.
  • Prepare sales orders and manage supporting billing documentation.
  • Maintain a service calendar; proactively follow up on open requests and recurring maintenance.
  • Track service‑related inventory such as tanks, pumps, hoses, meters, and support equipment.
  • Receive, label, and route incoming packages and project materials.
  • Ensure all service work meets safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Provide executive‑level administrative support for the Field Service team.
  • Use service administrative software (dispatch/ERP), Microsoft Office, and billing systems effectively.
  • Support completion of service work when multiple personnel are required.
  • Follow all department work instructions.
  • Work with sales and technicians to understand equipment and facilitate smooth repairs.
  • Record all preventative maintenance, solutions to maintenance requests, and necessary documentation.
  • Support the fiscal health of the business through accurate expense reporting.
  • Coordinate with drivers, warehouse personnel, sales representatives, and other team members to accomplish objectives.
  • Schedule preventative vehicle maintenance and address needed repairs with minimal productivity impact.
  • Resolve delays or interruptions related to service operations.
  • Participate in regular meetings, provide status updates, and assist in operational goal advancement.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness planning.
  • Investigate and resolve root causes of recurring service delays or interruptions.
  • Coordinate with Safety and Fleet Operations for incident investigations.
  • Travel to Boswell locations as needed for observations, meetings, and training.
  • Draft and present reports on service operations and expenses.
  • Schedule, lead, and/or participate in specialized training for business practices and services.
  • Ensure timely input of delivery information to bill customers.
  • Prepare service schedules, setting priorities and coordinating activities to meet specifications.
  • Hire, train, and supervise service technicians in coordination with Human Resources.
  • Drive employee engagement and appreciation for service technicians.
  • Review and approve scheduling and timekeeping for Service Technicians.
  • Identify training and development needs and initiate relevant programs.
  • Support Driver Manager with driver observations as needed.
  • Analyze service performance trends and conduct root cause analysis.
  • Troubleshoot customer service needs and collaborate with Sales to resolve issues.
  • Analyze and solve work problems or assist workers in solving work‑related problems.
