The Senior Associate Dean for Administration and Operations serves as the senior administrative leader and principal strategic partner to the Founding Dean of the UGA School of Nursing. This role is responsible for designing, building, and overseeing the comprehensive administrative, operational, financial, human resources, and infrastructure systems required to successfully launch and sustain a new academic unit within the University of Georgia.
The position provides high‑level leadership across business operations, facilities and space planning, staff workforce development, simulation and educational technology infrastructure, compliance, and organizational effectiveness. Working in close collaboration with academic leaders, university partners, and external stakeholders, the Senior Associate Dean ensures the School is positioned for long‑term growth, operational excellence, and statewide impact.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent plus 12 years of professional experience to include 5 years of supervisory experience
- Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- 10+ years of progressive senior leadership experience in higher education and specifically health professions education.
- Record of leadership in an integrated healthcare delivery system.
- Service in a prior role leading or supporting the successful accreditation or endorsement of a simulation center (e.g., SSH Accreditation, INACSL Endorsement).
- Provide senior‑level guidance to the Dean on operational, administrative, financial, and organizational strategy.
- Translate strategic priorities into scalable administrative systems, operational plans, and measurable institutional outcomes.
- Collaborate with academic leaders, university partners, and administrative units to ensure alignment across all operational domains.
- Lead school‑wide strategic initiatives, institutional planning efforts, and major projects that advance the School’s short‑ and long‑term goals.
- Build administrative infrastructure for clinical placements and affiliation agreements.
- Oversee site capacity planning, credentialing workflows, and onboarding systems.
- Secure and support partnerships with health systems, rural sites, and community agencies.
- Ensure adherence to institutional and regulatory requirements.
- Lead policy development for administrative and operational functions.
- Support the Dean with operational data and documentation for accreditation.
- Establish and oversee the School’s administrative infrastructure, operational systems, and business processes.
- Develop school‑wide policies, standard operating procedures, and administrative standards that support efficiency, compliance, and institutional alignment.
- Direct workflow design, organizational processes, and staff coordination to ensure effective and scalable school‑wide operations.
- Lead operational planning and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen administrative effectiveness and support the School’s strategic growth.
- Lead annual budgeting, multi‑year forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Manage financial operations, procurement, contracts, and fiscal controls.
- Ensure compliance with UGA and USG financial requirements.
- Oversee HR functions for staff roles (hiring, onboarding, training, performance).
- Develop staffing models and organizational structure for a growing school.
- Collaborate with UGA HR on employee relations, classification, and development.
- Provide executive oversight for the school’s simulation, skills lab, and educational technology infrastructure.
