Flux Core Structural Welder

Shop Position - Athens, GA

RAI is seeking full‑time, experienced Flux Core Structural Welders for our Athens location.

• Adhere to all safety procedures, including wearing all proper PPE.
• Operate a welding machine to join parts together, utilizing proper techniques for different joint types, positions, and thicknesses.
• Clean, grind, and prepare metal to ensure proper weld penetration.
• Accurately interpret drawings and prints to understand the required weld specifications, joint types, and positioning of components.
• Measure and cut using power tools, plasma cutters, and oxy‑fuel torches.
• Visually inspect welds for defects like porosity, slag inclusions, and undercut.
• Regularly clean and maintain welding equipment, including the wire feeder and power supply.
• Must be able to pass a 3G weld test on 1” carbon plate with a backer bar.

• 3 – 5 years’ experience preferred.
• Ability to pass an AWS weld test required.
• Flux core welding experience required.
• MIG and TIG experience preferred.
• Stainless steel and aluminum experience a plus.

  Typically 6am‑4:30pm Monday‑Friday, with some Saturdays required. Overtime hours available.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and safely maneuver around various construction equipment and vehicles on an active construction site.
• Regularly encounter moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and a variety of outside weather conditions.
• Ability to climb temporary or permanent stairs and ladders.
• Able to bend, squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, balance, stoop, and reach regularly.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Starting at $20/hour, depending on experience.
