Position Summary: Skilled work in baking pastries and bread for dining halls, snack bars, cafeterias, and campus eateries. Responsibilities include planning and baking a variety of items, supervising assistants, maintaining quality, and ensuring sufficient output to meet menu demands.
Responsibilities- Determine daily bake quantities based on meal count or production orders.
- Assign tasks to helpers and supervise baking activities.
- Weigh and mix ingredients; prepare dough and bake rolls, cornbread, doughnuts, muffins, biscuits, pies, cakes, and cookies.
- Prepare icings and decorate cakes.
- Operate and maintain baking equipment (mixers, moldings, scales, ovens), service equipment, and report repair needs.
- Requisition supplies and keep records of formulas used.
- Maintain records of ingredient consumption and pastry output.
- Perform related work as assigned by management.
- Adapt standard recipes to variances in quantity.
- Work long hours standing under high‑temperature conditions.
- Move loads up to 50 lbs (unload and stock).
- Perform push/pull activities with items up to 30 lbs.
- Use repetitive wrist, arm, and shoulder motions; require hand-and-finger coordination.
- Reach, climb, balance, crouch, twist, crawl, and kneel.
- Work in noisy, hot/cold environments with chemicals, cleaning equipment, dust, fumes, and odors.
- Work long hours standing.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Successful completion of a department‑sponsored food safety training program within six months of hire is required.
Compensation & BenefitsAdvertised salary: $17.523077 per hour.
