Position Title:Maintenance Technician
Location:Athens, GA
Description:
Our Maintenance Technician position supports Mativ’s Filtration & Advanced Materials business segment. This individual will be responsible for the repairs and maintenance of machinery and equipment such as bearings, piping, hydraulics, motors, pneumatic cylinders, variable speed drives, PLCs, and production machines and equipment. The shift schedule is Monday – Thursday from 10:00 PM - 8:00 AM.
Responsibilities:
Inspection
- Follow all company established methods, policies, rules, practices, and procedures to ensure employee safety, product quality, and efficient operations.
- Observe mechanical devices in operation, listen to their sounds to locate causes of trouble and may start devices to test their performance.
- Observe and test electrical devices including heaters, motors, starters, relays to correct machine operation and return it to production.
- Read schematics and PLC code to understand machine operation and more effectively troubleshoot issues.
- Examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
- Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
Repair and Maintenance
- Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
- Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments.
- Repair or replace defective parts and lubricate and clean parts.
- Repair electrical equipment.
Qualifications:
Required
- Associate's degree from college, university, or technical school; 3+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read and troubleshoot PLC ladder logic, basic programming of PLCs, and electrical systems troubleshooting is preferred.
- Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions.
- Multimeter skills.
- Computer skills.
- Basic math skills.
Preferred
- Experience working with 460 voltage.
Position Demands:
Conditions are that of a manufacturing environment:
- Air temperatures can range from cold to hot.
- Atmosphere may contain dust, fumes, and odors.
- May include mechanical, electrical, chemical, explosive, and radiation hazards.
Employees are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including:
- Safety shoes (steel toe or composite toe).
- Safety glasses.
- Bump caps.
- Protective gloves, when performing certain tasks.
- Hearing protection, when required.
- Other personal protective equipment as required for certain tasks.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must meet the physical demands:
- Be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Be able to push or pull heavy objects up to 250 pounds.
- Be able to work 12-hour shifts.
- Perform repetitive tasks.
- Routinely stand, sit, hear, walk, and talk.
- Reach, climb, bend, kneel, crouch, twist, and balance, sometimes in awkward or tight spaces.
- Have good close vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
