Welder - Athens, GA

This position welds metal tanks and/or components used in the production of transformers, applying the values and goals of Power Partners.

Understand and carry out detailed written and verbal instructions for welding various metal components to assemble distribution transformers as specified by layout, blue print, diagram, work order, welding procedures, or oral instructions using different welding equipment. Ensure safe start-up, operation, maintenance, and shut-down of equipment. Repeatedly lift/move material up to 50 lbs with or without assistance. Handle material and use hand/power tools as needed to perform required tasks.

Ensure welds and final products conform to standards. Follow all safety policies and procedures.

• Communicate and understand written and verbal instructions.
• Use iPad or other electronic communication devices.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Mathematical ability: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in thousandths and up to 1/16 inch.
• Demonstrate proper lifting techniques.
• Grasp, reach, and handle objects, tools, and materials.
• Use measuring devices such as tape measures, calipers, and micrometers.
• Use hand/power tools such as grinders, air chisels, and box cutters.
• Operate overhead hoists and lift assist equipment.
• Must be able to lift/push 50+ lbs. and pull up to 110 lbs.
• Frequent standing and walking; occasional sitting, stooping, reaching, or kneeling.
• Vision requirements: 20/40 with or without corrective glasses or contacts; normal peripheral vision; depth perception; ability to adjust focus.
• Must comply with all plant safety policies and procedures and any department safety rules.
• Must wear PPE including safety-toed shoes, safety glasses, cut-resistant gloves, welding hood, and hearing protection.
