Your Role And Responsibilities

In this role, you will support the business in achieving customer needs by adhering to ABB systems, processes, and procedures. You will use machinery and equipment inside and outside the plant, and read and interpret technical diagrams/instructions to perform maintenance on products, systems, panels, exterior and interior facilities, and more.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Performing preventative and corrective maintenance as part of the Athens Plant Maintenance Team, including exterior and interior facilities maintenance.
  • Maintaining computer and maintenance technology proficiency.
  • Demonstrating a high level of mechanical skills and self-motivation.
  • Receiving and understanding verbal and written technical instructions and responding in English.
  • Responding to plant emergencies or breakdowns.
  • Providing daily reporting to your supervisor and/or team.
  • Reading and interpreting information from blueprints, schematics, and other internal documentation in hard copy or electronic formats.
  • Working safely in an industrial manufacturing setting, including shift and weekend work as required.
  • Adhering to attendance and punctuality to company standards.
  • Using overhead crane/hoist systems.
  • Interpreting and following manuals as necessary to maintain equipment in English.
  • Demonstrating required proficiency (80%) on grade progression checklists exhibiting knowledge and competency within the role.
  • Following lock out/tag out and other safety procedures.

Additional Responsibilities: Conform to policies and procedures as an ABB employee. Perform housekeeping and exterior and interior facility maintenance, and other duties as required. Train, share knowledge and information with coworkers. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Physical Requirements

The ability to lift up to 50 lbs close to the body and 35 lbs away from the body 60% of the time. More than 50 lbs 40% of the time with assistance. The ability and willingness to use the company designated personal protective equipment. Visual acuity (corrected) to read directions, prints and gauges. Frequent bending, stooping, twisting and lifting (assisted and unassisted).

Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Ability to work in the interior and exterior manufacturing factory environment (concrete floor, heat, cold, noise, allergies, etc.). Ability to perform physically highly repetitive tasks.

Education Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent (GED). Computer and maintenance technology proficiency. Technical school training is preferred. Electrical training/knowledge is preferred. Address and function with basic computer skills as defined by the company. Maintenance experience and/or certification. Pass Athens Plant Maintenance Exam.
