Responsibilities
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Cultivates and stewards an active portfolio of 75-125 prospective and current donors through best practice development techniques in order to secure philanthropic support to meet annual revenue goals. Oversees and executes a broad development strategy for a major strategic service line of Piedmont Healthcare within the organization (i.e., Cardiovascular, Oncology, Transplant, Neurosciences, etc.). Develops and implements measurable activities to accomplish development goals including individual donor cultivation and asks as well as foundation grant requests.
Establishes and maintains effective relationships within Piedmont Healthcare. Maintains knowledge of current events, healthcare trends and fundraising trends within the Piedmont system and healthcare in general.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Target portfolio ranges from 75 – 125 qualified prospects and donors.
- Identify donors and prospective donors and cultivate an ongoing relationship designed to move prospects to a greater level of engagement with Piedmont Healthcare.
- Make personal contact with annual donors and prospective donors to cultivate the relationship and to gain a better appreciation of the donor’s interest in Piedmont.
- Actively record all donor interaction within the Raisers Edge database.
- Establish and maintain an effective relationship with all partners of Piedmont Healthcare.
- Prepare periodic reports for the Foundation team, volunteer leaders, administrators and donors.
- Maintain a current knowledge of the philanthropic community, including where donor loyalty and support resides.
- Follow current events at a local, state, regional, national and international level to better understand the dynamics that affect healthcare and the philanthropic environment.
- Participate in professional development organizations and associations.
- Attend educational seminars and meetings, as approved, for professional development.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Confident and comfortable conversing with volunteer leaders, donors, administration and prospects in both social and business surroundings.
- Ability to work with senior executives, physicians, hospital staff, volunteers, auxilians, and key community and corporate volunteers.
- Leadership skills, initiative and good judgment to make sound decisions.
- Versed in computer and Internet communications.

QualificationsMINIMUM
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
A Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university in communications, marketing, development, business, or a closely related field is required.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED:
Five (5) years of responsible professional work experience in development, marketing, communications or a closely related field is required. Three (3) of the five (5) years must involve development related activities. Demonstrated results in initiating relationships, cultivating interests and securing support and participation. Experience with a donor database system is required.
