The 12-bed Pulmonary Unit is located on the 6th floor of the new Main Tower. The clinical staff on Pulmonary work closely with hospitalists, pulmonologists and respiratory therapists to provide top‑notch care for patients with acute and chronic respiratory issues.

In the state‑of‑the‑art new Main Tower, the Pulmonary nurse provides high‑quality nursing care to acute‑care patients utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care. The nurse functions within the organization’s policies and procedures, demonstrates professional growth and accountability, and maintains standards of practice. The nurse coordinates patient‑care activities of all assigned staff to deliver quality nursing care.

• Coordinates the delivery of quality nursing care from birth through the lifecycle and manages operational issues during his/her shift. Provides clinical care as needed when census demands. Communicates patient care, departmental issues, and staff concerns to appropriate leaders. Serves as a resource for guidance and assistance to staff.

Patient ratios are determined by various factors, including volume and acuity of patient needs. Extenuating circumstances may require lower or higher ratios.

• Minimum Education:
  
  Graduate of a nursing program.
• Minimum Experience:
  
  One year of nursing experience in a hospital setting required.
• Minimum Licensure/Certification:
  Current license in Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License; BLS certification required.
• Additional Qualifications:
  
  Two or more years of nursing experience in a hospital setting preferred;
  Bachelor’s degree preferred; advanced certification in specialty field, if applicable; demonstrated clinical competency.
