Minimum QualificationsRequires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate.
Preferred QualificationsLicensed Veterinary Technician with experience in a surgery-based hospital setting.
Position SummaryThe Licensed Veterinary Technician in Cardiology will perform physical exams, technician appointments, patient restraint, patient sedation, intravenous catheterization, routine laboratory procedures, venipuncture, and indirect blood pressure. Obtain urine by expression, cystocentesis or catheterization. Administer treatments, drugs, fluids, and medications by oral, parenteral and injectable routes. Client communication in person and via phone or e-mail. Acquire diagnostic ECG tracings. Prepare and apply Holtor monitors and telemetry.
Set up and assist with paracentesis, echocardiogram, electrocardiogram (ECG), interventional radiology procedures, electrocardioversion, oxygen cage, and surgical procedures. Review Holtor monitor tracings. Assist in euthanasia and emergency resuscitation procedures.
