Job Title and Summary
Position:
Veterinary Assistant II – 1.0 FTE, Non‑Exempt, Full Time. 24/7 unit and shift differential of $16.78 per hour, with varied 10‑hour shifts that include nights, weekends, holidays and some on‑call duties.
- Provide animal care via feeding, watering, walking, transporting, restraining, grooming and stock of area supplies.
- Maintain clinical records and chart records, input charges into proprietary software database.
- Assist senior veterinary staff with animal care and clinical tasks.
- Stock supplies of cleaning products and patient care equipment; insure facility cleanliness with mop, broom, chemical cleaning supplies and floor sanitation.
- Work with wound care equipment, cleaning solutions and other materials to prevent infections.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform other physical demands that support animal care.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of related experience.
- Experience with in small animal veterinary hospital or clinic preferred.
- Knowledge of basic animal health terminology and effective communication skills.
- Properly handle and restrain various species of animals.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Sit, stand, stoop, bend and walk intermittently during the day on hard floor surfaces.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to accurately work with small, delicate pieces of equipment or large heavy objects/containers/machinery.
- Wear all protective gear including mask, gloves, gown, hairnet, safety goggles, etc.
- Work with wound care equipment, cleaning solutions, and other materials to prevent infections.
