This student will be responsible for planting crops, operating equipment for field prep, harvesting, processing crops, watering and fertilizing crops, building and repairing irrigation systems, scouting for insects and diseases, and spraying organically approved pesticides when necessary. The student will also perform various farm related jobs with farm staff as needed. Prior experience growing vegetables is required, and the ability to work with other students on assigned tasks is essential.
Responsibilities- Plant crops and manage crop schedules
- Operate field prep equipment and harvest produce
- Process and package crops for sale or distribution
- Water and fertilize crops on a regular basis
- Build and repair irrigation systems
- Scout for insects, diseases, and pests
- Apply organic pesticides when required
- Assist farm staff with additional farm tasks
- Prior experience in vegetable farming or similar
- Ability to work collaboratively with peers
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Willingness to drive and operate equipment
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Lift 50 pounds and work in inclement weather as needed; driving required.
