Duties/Responsibilities (Daily Lab Operations)
  • Make sure that the inventory of consumables and other materials are up to date.
  • Make sure that the booth computers and the data collection software are working and up to date.
  • Maintain the consumer database, recruiting new panelists as needed.
  • Assist the PI with negotiating new work contracts.

Duties/Responsibilities (Consumer and Sensory Test Administration)
  • Prepare the screening questionnaire on Qualtrics, and recruit and schedule panelists for consumer tests.
  • Create ballots/questionnaires on the data collection software and administer them to panelists on test day.
  • Prepare samples and serve them to panelists on test days.
  • Clean and prepare the booth for each session.

This is a part‑time temporary position assisting with food sensory analysis studies associated with research and industry contract projects. The main responsibility is setting up consumer and sensory testing of foods associated with research and contract work, and maintaining the lab space properly.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
  • Knowledge of conducting consumer taste tests.
  • Computer savviness; the job uses two software applications for recruiting participants and collecting data during test sessions. The supervisor will train the new hire to use both.
  • Computer skills with adequate knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
