Position SummaryThis position involves sorting and recording nematode plant and soil samples received from our clients, filling 100cc beakers with soil, extracting plant‑parasitic nematodes from samples, accurately entering nematode assay results into a database system, washing glassware, discarding leftover soil and plant samples, keeping the lab neat and clean, and sterilizing glassware as necessary. In addition, the incumbent will work on greenhouse and field research projects on the management of plant‑parasitic nematodes associated with various crops.
Responsibilities include maintaining greenhouse and field experiments, applying treatments, traveling to layout trials, and recording relevant data.
- Experience in laboratory techniques related to nematology or plant pathology (preferred)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a research team
- Basic knowledge of laboratory safety and handling of biological samples
- Proficiency in entering data into database systems
- Standing, bending, and enduring outdoor and indoor conditions for extended periods.
- Lift up to 50 lbs.; minimal lifting/bending in typical lab environment.
- Travel to/from multiple locations; requires driving.
