The Spatial Biology Laboratory Technician will work as part of the Spatial Biology Shared Resource in the inaugural Research Center at the new School of Medicine. The Laboratory Technician will be part of a dedicated team of professionals and technicians that provide comprehensive support and expertise to facilitate spatial biology research. This role will contribute to cutting-edge biomedical research projects aimed at understanding the spatial organization of gene and protein expression within tissues and provide analytical services related to data acquisition, management and quality control.
Additional responsibilities include managing, recording and analyzing data from clinical trials.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field of science and 2 years of professional experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in biotechnology, biomedical research, biology, biochemistry, genetics, genomics or equivalent, with at least 5 years of relevant laboratory experience.
- Preferred:
PhD in biotechnology, biomedical research, biology, biochemistry, or equivalent, with at least 5 years of relevant laboratory experience. - Experience in histology and/or microscopy.
- Experience working in a core facility.
- Experience in large data transfer and analysis, collecting, processing and analyzing biological data from a variety of sources.

- Meticulously follow standard operating procedures
- High attention to detail, self-motivated, critical thinking, strong written and verbal communication skills
- High proficiency of laboratory techniques, equipment, and safety especially related to spatial technologies (Geo Mx, Cos Mx, spatial transcriptomics and multiplex immunofluorescence) and various molecular techniques (DNA / RNA extraction, PCR and qPCR, sequencing, etc)
- Service-minded, meticulous, well-organized, structured and able to autonomously plan and execute tasks
- Works independently and as part of a team
- Enthusiastic to learn and adapt in a fast-evolving environment and technology
- Maintain and organize laboratory supplies, reagents, and equipment, ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulations, collaborate effectively with our laboratory members and investigators
- Independently perform a wide range of molecular biology techniques
- Execute tissue processing and imaging protocols
- Assist in the development and optimization of novel experimental protocols for spatial biology
- Maintain organized and well-documented records of experimental data and analysis results
- Work within multi-disciplinary team of researchers to perform quality assessments and corrections on large datasets
