- Conduct research on the molecular basis of plant‑nematode interactions, including identification of nematode genes important for parasitism and host resistance (70 % of time).
- Care for plants and/or pathogen cultures required for research experiments (5 % of time).
- Collect and analyze data from experiments, collaborating with the PI (10 % of time).
- Write and report research findings in both written and oral formats, prepare research updates and periodic reports for grant agencies (5 % of time).
- Present research results at professional scientific meetings and for publication (5 % of time).
- Supervise student workers and provide mentorship with the PI to undergraduate researchers in the laboratory (5 % of time).
This position seeks to understand the molecular basis of plant‑nematode interactions, with an emphasis on nematode effector biology.
Minimum QualificationsPhD in molecular nematology, plant‑microbe interactions, plant molecular biology/genetics, plant development, or related field obtained within the past four years. Demonstrated knowledge and research experience in molecular plant‑microbe interactions, plant and/or nematode molecular biology and genetics. Preferred: experience with statistical and bioinformatics analyses; plant transformation in crop or model plant systems. Demonstrated publication record in peer‑reviewed journals, proficiency in written and spoken English, and proven ability to work independently and on an interdisciplinary team.
