This position is for a Senior Research Scientist in the Department of Infectious Diseases, College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Georgia. The applicant will lead animal studies in compliance with the Guide and OLAW regulations, develop AUPs and pursue approval with the institutional IACUC. The applicant is expected to work closely with Prof. Frederick Quinn (PI) and assist him with grant writing as well as pursue extramural funding.
The applicant is expected to develop and sustain an independent research program and train the next‑generation of mycobacteriologists. The applicant is encouraged and expected to contribute to training and teaching graduate‑level courses in the department and serve as graduate thesis committee member. The applicant will collaborate with other PIs within the Emory/Georgia TRAC program.
Applicant should have >15 years of research experience with mycobacterial species with a focus on pathogenesis, transmission, biomarker characterization for diagnostics and vaccine development, drug discovery studies and working with a variety of animal models in an ABSL‑3 environment.
