Minimum QualificationsRequires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field.
Preferred Qualifications- Master’s degree and some experience or equivalent combination of Bachelor's degree plus experience and skills.

This is a privately funded project. The incumbent will focus on utilizing a variety of modern approaches to engineer novel resistance to cyst and root‑knot nematodes in crop plants. This position is heavily technology‑driven.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies- Lab and research knowledge and skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proven publication record.
Minimal lifting/bending in the normal operations of a typical office/lab environment.
Background Investigation PolicyOffers of employment are contingent upon completion of a background investigation including a criminal background check, confirmation of credentials and employment history, and where applicable a satisfactory credit check. A pre‑employment drug test may also be required for positions with high‑risk responsibilities.
Duties / Responsibilities- Care for plants required for executing research experiments, including tissue culture, planting, watering, and seed harvesting. (5%)
- Conduct research to manipulate nematode and plant genes to engineer novel forms of nematode resistance; handle and analyze genomic and/or transcriptomic datasets, transform plants, and use modern molecular and genetic approaches. (75%)
- Collect and analyze data from experiments, directly and in collaboration with the principal investigator. (10%)
- Summarize and regularly discuss research results in both written and oral formats with the PI. (5%)
- Supervise student workers that assist with research in the laboratory. (5%)
