Post-Doctoral Associate - Terns

Position Summary

Perform NIH‑funded research in the area of CRISPR and anti‑CRISPR biology.

• Design and conduct experiments to identify and characterize anti‑CRISPR proteins from viruses, and to screen new viruses and plasmids from hyperthermophilic archaea; understand detailed molecular mechanisms of prokaryote‑viral defense/counter‑defense interactions.
• Assist with daily laboratory operations, including maintenance of phage and bacteria stocks.
• Prepare manuscripts and present findings at conferences in coordination with the PI.
• Assist in supervising student members of the laboratory.
• Perform other duties to support research as assigned.

• PhD degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
• PhD‑level competence to conduct independent research, including literature knowledge, hypothesis generation, experimental design, execution, data analysis, writing reports and manuscripts, and delivering oral presentations.

• Standing throughout the day and for long periods of time.
• Background investigation and, if applicable, pre‑employment drug testing.
• Security access required.
• Not required to drive or use a P‑Card.
