Field Work – Help with planting, maintaining, harvesting, sampling, and processing corn and peanut fields and plots.

Greenhouse Work – Help with planting, maintaining, harvesting, sampling, and processing peanuts grown in pots in the greenhouse.

Position Summary:

This position will work with the Fountain Lab at the UGA Griffin Campus to assist in performing mycotoxin and postharvest pathogen research. The candidate will help with planting, maintenance, harvesting, sample collection, and processing for field and greenhouse-based corn and peanut experiments in Griffin and South Georgia. The candidate will also help with normal laboratory operations including cleaning, upkeep, media preparation, and basic lab procedures.

The candidate will also be encouraged to develop an independent research project.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position:

High School Graduate. Currently enrolled in college.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies :

Some experience working with field crops or in experimental plots. Also some experience working in a laboratory setting.

Physical Demands:

Standing and working in summer heat. Lift 30lbs. Driving as needed to perform job duties.
