Position Summary:

The goal of the post-doc is to produce analytic output useful for the control and measles and rubella. The postdoc will work on at least one of two proposed projects. The first is to modify an existing rubella transmission model to simulate the impact of introducing rubella containing vaccine into all remaining countries’ routine immunization programs. The results of this project will inform WHO policy on rubella vaccine introduction.

The second is to develop an analytic approach to analyze time and spatial measles IgG seroprevalence data to estimate and predict measles susceptibility profiles. The results of this project can be used to inform the utility and investment case for serological surveillance systems.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position:

PhD in statistics, biostatistics, ecology, computer science, engineering, physics, mathematics, epidemiology, or other relevant field

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies :
  • Research experience of working with mathematical and/or statistical models.
  • A strong interest in infectious disease epidemiology.
  • Ability to fit models to spatial-temporal data
  • Good knowledge of coding in R. Good knowledge of coding in Python, C/C++
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in communicating research findings to a non-specialist audience
  • Ability to work independently but also as part of a larger interdisciplinary research team
