Responsibilities
  • Design and test regeneration/transformation protocols for grasses using appropriate experimental design.
  • Design and test vectors for transformation and editing; advanced molecular techniques, cloning, sterile technique, media preparation, plant tissue and cell culture.
  • Design, test, and analyze multiplexed genome editing in heterozygous polypoid and engineer one metabolic pathway; high-throughput DNA sequencing, genotyping, tissue culture, regeneration.
  • Communicate regularly with PI; prepare progress reports, record technical procedures, analyze data, prepare manuscripts.
  • Coordinate research with other labs; assist daily operations, training, supervision; handle permits and shipping authorization requests.
Qualifications
  • PhD in related plant science field.
  • Competency in plant tissue culture and transformation.
  • Competency in vector construction.
  • Competency in gene editing using CRISPR/Cas.
  • Competency in analyzing genome editing.
  • Competency in experimental design, statistical analysis, high throughput.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Ability to publish in plant molecular genetics and/or genomics.
Position Summary

This position will be responsible for planning, conducting, and managing all aspects of research related to transformation and genome editing in monocots. This will include establishing and maintaining a transformation and editing pipeline, vector design and construction, tissue culture establishment, molecular analysis, data collection, progress reporting, supervision and training of personnel and students, obtaining permits, manuscript preparation and submission.

Physical Demands

Lift 25 pounds; stand varying temperatures in greenhouses and fields.
