Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in a related field of science and 2 years of professional experience
- Familiarity with stakeholder engagement.
- Familiarity with public speaking and professional writing.
- Strong knowledge of agricultural and turf equipment.
- Strong knowledge of turfgrass agronomic management.
- Category 24 (Ornamental and Turf) Georgia Pesticide Applicator License.
This position includes both research and operational turfgrass plot responsibilities in support of the University of Georgia's Turfgrass Weeds and Agronomic Extension program. The Research Professional will be responsible for the day‑to‑day research operations and will manage the turfgrass research plots for the Turfgrass Weed Science and Agronomic extension program. This position will coordinate, implement, and execute statewide applied research protocols supporting the turfgrass industry (e.g. golf, sports field, commercial lawn care, sod production, etc.)
in Georgia including small‑plot and on‑farm trials. The incumbent will collaborate with the program leader to shape and refine research priorities based on stakeholder input and emerging issues, participate actively in planning, execution, and evaluation of research and extension programs, and aid in tracking and analyzing research data in coordination with the program leader. This position will provide mechanical and technical expertise that will aid in implementing novel research experiments.
They will also maintain equipment to include repairs, modifications and precise calibration.
- Strong management and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of data collection, statistical analysis, and reporting.
- Effective communication across diverse audiences.
- Competence in supervising students.
- Experience in equipment calibration, modifications, and maintenance.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of Microsoft office, general computer applications, and the ability to learn programs utilized in the trade.
- Strong work ethics and attention to detail.
- Willingness to travel as needed throughout the state.
- Familiarity in operating equipment associated with agronomic production and management of turfgrass systems (tractors, track loaders, sprayers, etc.).
- Lead administrative and day-to-day research operations for the Turfgrass Weed Science and Agronomic extension program.
- Manage turfgrass research plots.
- Coordinate, implement, and execute statewide applied research protocols supporting the turfgrass industry including small-plot and on-farm field trials.
- Collaborate with the program leader to shape and refine research priorities based on stakeholder input and emerging issues.
- Participate actively in planning, execution, and evaluation of research and extension programs.
- Aid in tracking and analyzing research data in coordination with the program leader.
- Provide mechanical and technical expertise that will aid in implementing novel research experiments.

- Mentor and supervise student workers and graduate students.
- Represent the Turfgrass Weed Science and Agronomic extension program at academic, professional, and stakeholder-focused events including field days, conferences, and extension meetings.
