The University of Georgia is hiring a Post-Doctoral Associate to develop a regional groundwater model for southeast and coastal Georgia and run future climate and development scenarios. The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of Brock Woodson (College of Engineering) and Adam Milewski (Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics), while collaborating with a broader interdisciplinary research team.
Duties and Responsibilities- Develop a regional groundwater model for southeast and coastal Georgia.
- Run future climate and development scenarios using the model.
- Co-develop and implement research on the economic, ecological, and social impacts related to groundwater along the Georgia coastal region.
- Collaborate on interdisciplinary academic publications, policy briefings, and outreach activities.
- Mentor graduate and undergraduate students.
- Communicate regularly with project PIs regarding research and laboratory operations.
- Produce journal manuscripts, research reports, factsheets, and other written / video materials.
- PhD in economics, civil, or environmental engineering or a related field, completed by January 2025.
- Experience in groundwater modeling, specifically with Visual Mod Flow Flex 8 or other Mod Flow versions.
- Expertise in geospatial methods, data analysis, and visualization.
- Experience working on interdisciplinary research teams.
- Record of publishing in peer‑reviewed journals and ability to communicate to diverse audiences.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills related to numerical groundwater modeling and excellent oral and written communication skills.
