This position seeks to understand the molecular basis of plant‑nematode interactions, with an emphasis on nematode effector biology. The incumbent will conduct research on the molecular basis of plant‑nematode interactions, identify nematode genes important for parasitism and host resistance, and characterize host target genes essential for compatibility and resistance. The role involves genomic and transcriptomic data analysis, cloning of candidate genes, and employing molecular and genetic approaches in crop and model plant systems.

• Conduct laboratory research on the molecular basis of plant‑nematode interactions (70% of time).
• Care for plants and/or pathogen cultures required for research experiments (5% of time).
• Collect and analyze experimental data, collaborating with the Principal Investigator (10% of time).
• Write and report research findings in written and oral formats, including preparation of periodic research reports and grant progress reports.
• Present research results at professional scientific meetings and publish findings in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Supervise undergraduate researcher students and provide mentorship in the laboratory.

• PhD within the last four years in molecular nematology, plant‑microbe interactions, plant molecular biology/genetics, plant development, or a related field.
• Demonstrated knowledge and research experience in molecular plant‑microbe interactions and plant and/or nematode molecular biology and genetics.
• Preferred experience in statistical and bioinformatics analyses, plant transformation in crop or model plant systems, and a strong publication record in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English and proven ability to work independently and on an interdisciplinary team.
• Physical demands include light lifting, standing, and sitting for extended periods of time.
