Dietary Cook

Overview

At Cypress Skilled Nursing, we are looking for a Dietary Cook to join our dietary kitchen team. The role involves preparing and serving therapeutic meals for residents, ensuring food safety and quality, and maintaining a clean and efficient work environment.

• Assist in all dietary department functions, including preparing and pre-portioning food such as beverages, salads, desserts, and other items assigned by the supervisor for therapeutic diets.
• Handle food using proper food handling and food safety techniques according to established policies and regulations.
• Ensure the proper quantity of food is pre-portioned as directed.
• Pre-portion and distribute food according to the planned menu, residents’ food preferences, and diet orders.
• Maintain the proper temperature of food during preparation and distribution.
• Prepare and serve food promptly.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Ensure meals and snacks are sent from the kitchen or serving area according to established time schedules.
• Label, date, and store food properly according to established policies.
• Wash dishes and utensils according to established policies.
• Store dishes, pots, and utensils in the proper location to prevent contamination and ensure availability for the next meal.
• Assist in receiving, storing, and verifying invoices for incoming food and supplies as indicated by the supervisor.
• MUST be able to work every other weekend.

• Experience working in a dietary department in a hospital or skilled nursing facility environment preferred.
• Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift and move intermittently during work hours.
• Maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel.
• Relate and work well with all disabled and elderly residents.
• Interact professionally and respectfully with residents, family members, co‑workers, and supervisors.
• SERV Safe Certification is a plus.
