Research Scientist, Research Assistant/Associate
Position Summary
Technicians will assist a master’s student with data collection at the Whitehall Deer Research Facility in Athens, GA. The project investigates the interaction between white‑tailed deer and residential fences to reduce deer‑fence conflicts. Technicians will move deer throughout the facility, assist with jumping trials recorded by high‑speed cameras, and perform necessary preparation and concluding activities. The position requires working outdoors for several hours, often in early mornings or late evenings.
Duties/ Responsibilities
- Animal husbandry and management
- Data collection
- Data entry and office duties
Progress toward a bachelor of science degree in wildlife ecology and management or a closely related field.
- Previous experience moving and handling large mammals, especially white‑tailed deer, is preferred.
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn, strong work ethic, and effective communication skills.
Must be able to walk across uneven ground, work in close proximity to large animals, lift 50 pounds, and drive.
