Responsibilities- Maintain insect colonies (e.g., whitefly and diamondback moth)
- Rapidly identify and count small insects under a stereo microscope
- Plant seeds/seedlings for colonies and other research tests
- Assist with insect colonies and plant food maintenance
- Collect and process samples (frozen or alcohol stored) as scheduled each week
- Check colonies and plants twice weekly
- Participate in weekly lab meetings to determine additional duties
- Scouting and other entomological field research duties
- Look through a stereo microscope for hours at a time in order to do counts
- Lift soil tubs and standard potting trays with full pots; drive to field sites
- Be punctual for assigned work times; some field work involved
