PART TIME Correctional Officer
Join Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District as a PART TIME Correctional Officer. The role brings responsibility for maintaining order, supervising offenders and ensuring the safety and security of the correctional institution.
Purpose & RequirementsReports To: Correctional Sergeant / Correctional Lieutenant
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Classification: Part Time/No Benefits;
Serves at the discretion of the Warden
Pay Grade: CR01 – based on 2080 schedule
Safety Sensitive: Yes – subject to random drug testing per the Athens-Clarke County Drug and Alcohol Ordinance
- Maintain offender count and supervise offender visitation.
- Ensure security of the facility, including monitoring gates, doors, and rooms.
- Coordinate the placement of offenders on outside work details and perform regular inspections of the facility.
- Keep the institution clean and sanitary; control tools and chemicals.
- Provide leadership and supervision over offenders; react quickly to situations jeopardizing health and safety.
- Assist in organizing offender activities and controlling traffic between activities.
- Transport offenders within and outside the facility as needed.
- Assist in shakedown and head count processes; ensure all gates, doors, and rooms are locked and secure.
- Monitor telephone, radio, and intercom; monitor offenders in isolation segregation and sick rooms.
- Fill in for other employees in their absence, assuming duties of shift supervisor when necessary.
- Serve on disciplinary committee and provide processing of new offenders and outbound processing.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- United States Citizen required; minimum age 20 years.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must possess current Georgia Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT) certification or reinstate prior to start date.
- Must complete GCIC Security and Awareness training within 10 days of hire.
- Preferred:
One year of correctional officer experience. - Ability to work shifts up to 12 hours, including rotating days off and potential religious holidays.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
- Physical ability to perform duties requiring lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally.
