Minimum Qualifications

Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, formal training programs, or on-the-job training. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited vocational school with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as a HVAC technician.

Position Summary

This position reports directly to the Facilities Manager. As a member of the team, the position is responsible for manual work at the journeyman level. Work involves installation, operation maintenance, modification, services and repair of HVAC systems, equipment, fixtures, and related electro-mechanical systems in accordance with standard trade practices and applicable HVAC Industry Codes at the UGA Griffin Campus. Assignments are made in the form of written and oral instructions and may be accompanied by sketches and blueprints, although most work results from inspection and troubleshooting.

Work is ordinarily performed independently, subject to inspection in process or upon completion. Work ethics are a core value in the facilities management division, team members are expected to maintain a positive and professional demeanor, foster teamwork, act with honesty and integrity, adhere to a pattern of regular and timely attendance, exercise good communication, demonstrate a willingness to learn, approach problems with proactive solutions, and respect other team members and the campus community.
