High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience. Preferred

Summary:

Skilled steam fitting and welding work at the journeyman level, primarily involved with the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of campus steam distribution system, system components and building steam powered equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot, repair and maintain steam distribution system, system components and building steam equipment.
  • Pipe fitting and welding and other welding work in support of general maintenance activities.
  • Perform routine scheduled preventive maintenance on steam components and equipment.
  • Perform other related building maintenance and repair tasks as directed by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies
  • Journeyman level knowledge, skills and abilities of the welding or pipe fitting trades.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, sketches and other documents related to projects.
  • Ability to relate well with others (customer, co‑workers, supervisors, etc.).
Physical Demands
  • Work in adverse weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, etc.).
  • Stand, walk, crawl, balance, stoop, bend, squat, work with hands above shoulders and work from standard and/or extended ladders and/or scaffolds.
  • Lift up to 75 lbs consistently throughout a normal work shift.
Benefits

Advertised Salary: $45,000 or commensurate with experience – Posted Date 11/10/2025 – Open until filled – Closing Date Proposed Starting Date 12/08/2025 – Working Schedule Monday‑Friday 8:00 AM‑4:30 PM – May be required to perform duties after hours (evenings and weekends) due to emergency situations or planned work.
