CDL Positions HIRING INCENTIVE

Eligible newly hired candidates hired into a position requiring a CDL will receive an incremental hiring incentive upon satisfactory job performance after completion of 3, 6, and 12 months of service.
Valid Driver’s License: $1,500 one time hiring incentive to be paid in $500 increments (not added to base salary).
This is a one-time incentive, and you will not be eligible for an additional incentive when you obtain your required CDL license.
Class A or Class B CDL: $3,000 one time hiring incentive to be paid in $1,000 increments (not added to base salary).
Continuation of this Recruitment/Hiring Incentive Program is subject to available funding and approval by the Manager.

Purpose of JobThe purpose of this job is to service, maintain, and repair various county vehicle and specialty equipment. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting in diagnosing and correcting mechanical problems with vehicles and equipment, performing preventive maintenance and repair on various specialty equipment, and performing additional tasks as assigned.
Job Related RequirementsWorking hours:
Monday thru Friday 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
May be required to work on religious holidays.
Regular and predictable attendance is required.
Must work cooperatively with others.
When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by ACC's safe driving policy.
Emergency PositionThis position is designated as an emergency position that requires your attendance at work under all types of emergency conditions. Some examples of emergencies include inclement weather, utility failure, vehicle breakdown, accidents, fire or other forced evacuations or as determined by the Manager.
High school diploma or equivalent with two years of automotive and heavy equipment / fleet maintenance and repair to include diesel and/or truck repair or related experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Must have the ability to obtain a Georgia Commercial Driver’s License within six (6) months of date of hire.
Must possess or have the ability to obtain specialized training and/or certifications required of the position. Criminal background must indicate eligibility for the supervision of inmates.
Must obtain security training for the supervision of inmate workers as set forth by the Georgia Department of Corrections Standard Operating Procedures with six (6) months of date or hire or first available opportunity.
Responsibilities- Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
- Files repair reports in Samsara or similar software.
- Performs routine service duties (e.g., relines brakes; performs tune-ups and oil changes; replaces filters; lubricates chassis; replaces antifreeze, air filters, drive belts, and tires; performs heating and air-conditioning repairs).
- Performs general repairs; tests and recharges/replaces batteries; replaces water pumps, fuel pumps, radiators, brake air lines, hydraulics, electrical wiring, headlights and warning lights.
- Maintains communications equipment.
- Performs metal fabrication.
- Conducts welding on steel and aluminum and ensures repairs are made as required.
- Rebuilds air, water, and hydraulic valves.
- Sets up tools and equipment; procures parts and supplies for repairs; and cleans shop area, parts room, and mechanic office.
- Assists with development of guidelines of operation for new equipment.
- Performs a variety of engine diagnosis procedures.
- Operates service trucks and on-board equipment.
- Prepares vehicle maintenance reports.
- Welds and fabricates parts as needed.
- Oversees the work of inmates.
