Security Systems Specialist General Info

Athens, Georgia; with periodic projects in Greater Atlanta
Pay: $75,000 to $95,000 (pending experience)
Hours:
Monday to Friday - 7:30 am to 4:00 pm (some overtime required - hours subject to change based on service work schedule)

- Install, program, and commission security systems including:
- IP and analog CCTV cameras
- Access control systems (card, key fob, biometric)
- Intrusion detection and alarm systems
- Intercom and visitor management systems
- Run, terminate, label, and test low-voltage cabling (Cat5e/Cat6, fiber, coax).
- Mount cameras, readers, panels, enclosures, and related hardware per design specifications.
- Configure networked security devices, NVRs/DVRs, and control software.
- Diagnose and resolve system faults, connectivity issues, and hardware failures.
- Perform routine maintenance, firmware updates, and system health checks.
- Provide on-call or scheduled service support as required.
- Review site plans, security layouts, and project scopes.
- Assist with system design, equipment selection, and placement recommendations.
- Maintain accurate installation documentation, wiring diagrams, and as-built drawings.
- Ensure installations comply with applicable codes, standards, and regulations (NEC, local codes, OSHA).
- Follow safety protocols when working at heights, in secured areas, or near active facilities.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity of secured environments.
- Coordinate with project managers, IT teams, facility managers, and contractors.
- Train end users on system operation and basic troubleshooting.
- Communicate project status, issues, and completion milestones clearly.
The Security Systems Specialist will also be responsible for installing, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and commissioning low‑voltage systems, including, but not limited to, security/access control systems, CCTV, fire alarm systems, communication systems, sound systems, and network administration. This role includes hands‑on tasks such as wiring, mounting and setup. Knowledge of electronics, computer programming, network administration, circuitry and technologies related to these systems is essential.
Knowledge of local and national codes is also essential.
Willingness to travel to various job sites and respond to emergency service calls as needed. Travel may include local, regional, or national assignments depending on client requirements.
Physical RequirementsThe role requires the ability to climb ladders and work at heights of 14 feet or more. It also involves frequent sitting, standing, walking, and manual dexterity as well as hand‑eye coordination. Additional physical tasks include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, with occasional lifting or moving of heavier items as necessary.
VehicleEnsure regular maintenance of the company vehicle is performed and uphold a clean, organized, and well‑stocked work truck.
Requirements- Certification Preferred: CSEIP certification
- Experience:
Proficient in Lenel Security and ePACs systems, as well as other advanced security solutions - A valid driver’s license and authorization to operate a company vehicle
- ePACS Registration:
Must meet requirements for Enterprise Physical Access Control System (ePACS) registration and obtain programmer-level approval - Federal Credentialing Process:
Must meet requirements for accessing facilities, including but not limited to obtaining facility access cards (e.g. PIV card, smart card, access card, and/or badge) and meeting ongoing training requirements - Select Agent Program Participation:
